A Familiar Flight celebrates one of Australia's most recognisable and beloved native birds, the galah. Captured in exquisite detail, the galah's soft pink and grey plumage is illuminated against a rich, atmospheric background, drawing the viewer into its intelligent gaze and vibrant personality.
This painting reflects the everyday beauty of Australian wildlife and the special connection we share with the birds that inhabit our towns, farms, and bushland. Galahs are a familiar sight across the Australian landscape, often seen gathering in flocks, their playful nature and unmistakable calls bringing life and movement to the environment.
As my largest painting to date, A Familiar Flight took more than two months to complete. Layer by layer, I carefully built the intricate feather detail and subtle colour variations that have become a hallmark of my work. The scale of the piece allows the viewer to appreciate the remarkable beauty and character of this iconic Australian species.
Created in my studio in regional New South Wales, this original artwork invites viewers to pause, look closely, and develop a deeper appreciation for the wildlife that shares our everyday spaces.
